Attending the opening of Yeovil College's new automotive training facility showcased how engagement between education and businesses can create our skilled workforce for the future. Students are training across electric, hydrogen and combustion engines to build the full set of skills that local businesses need. And, local businesses are shaping the training courses that they need for existing and future employees.
The passion for providing top class education and skills was palpable, as was the enthusiasm of the students engaged in their tasks.
With a wide range of vocational training and apprenticeships available both in Strode College and Yeovil College, skills and training are being delivered locally to meet local need for both businesses, young people, and those retraining. More of this can only be a good thing and is part of our plan for Glastonbury and Somerton.
Combine all of this with government's recent reforms to improve funding for apprenticeships for small businesses and it looks like our cars will be well cared for for years to come.
