I was invited to speak at the Conservative Women’s Organisation - South West conference this weekend in a panel discussion that explored how we can support and encourage more women into public life. This is a subject very close to my heart and in line with some of the training and mentoring I have been involved in both receiving and delivering over the years. We also heard from Mims Davies MP in an inspiring keynote speech and I was glad to get to speak to her about the important work being done to support young people who are care leavers to aspire and achieve. With other panel discussions around women's health, from child loss and menopause to chronic pain; wider policing and safety issues, with the Police and Crime Commissioners for Devon & Cornwall and Sussex, along with great insight from the campaign to Stamp Out Spiking; and much more.
It was a pleasure to meet with such a diverse group of members of CWO - South West from all across the region and those visiting Somerset from further afield. All in all a positive and productive day and I look forward to the next one.
